“Then she said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.” ” 2 Kings 5:3 (NKJV)
Never underestimate the value of a child, even when the child is a captive servant in a foreign land. This young girl remembered the lessons about God taught by her parents even though she was far from home and alone. She was a faithful witness to Naaman’s wife who then believed her enough to share the information with Naaman, who was a commander in the army, but had leprosy.
Then, Naaman believed her enough that he went to the king of Syria and told him what the young girl had shared. The king of Syria believed enough that he sent a letter, gold, silver and clothes with Naaman to go to Israel to be healed.
Oh, but the king of Israel knew he couldn’t heal Naaman! He worried that a war might be started over not being able to heal the commander. Ah, but Elisha hear of the situation and sent a message to the king to send Naaman to him so that Naaman and the king of Syria would learn that there was a prophet in Israel.
We never know how much influence our words and actions may benefit someone else. In fact, we might not find out until eternity how some little thing to us was used by God for the glory of God. We need to let God’s light shine through us to others today.
