“They came, both men and women, as many as had a willing heart, and brought earrings and nose rings, rings and necklaces, all jewelry of gold, that is, every man who made an offering of gold to the LORD.” Exodus 35:22 (NKJV)
A lot of things have happened to the Israelites as they traveled with the Lord leading them. The Lord had given them the 10 commandments and the plans for building the tabernacle to worship God during their travels.
They had come out of Egypt with precious jewels and other costly items they had been given by the Egyptians as they were leaving the country. Now, these items were needed for the building of God’s tabernacle and both men and women brought their gifts to the Lord – willingly!
Why is this verse important to me during our study of Women of the Bible? Often in the Bible we find reference to the men of the home being the spiritual leader and that should be the case. However, as in this verse, the women have a part to play too.
Do I have a willing heart in whatever service I attempt to give to the Lord? It may be my time, my finances, my service to others, or any other way that I am offering to God an offering. If I do any of these things only out of duty or obligation, my gift is worthless.
Lord, today I choose to give you the best of my time, my finances and my service to others as a living sacrifice of love because You first loved me.
