“The wise woman builds her house,
But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.” Proverbs 14:1 (NKJV)
Building up a home isn’t done by chance. It is intentional. Showing unconditional love to your spouse and children takes effort. They are human, just like everyone else. They will make mistakes – but so will you. You make a choice to love them anyway.
Building up a home requires that the “D” word is never spoken or thought of. It is not an option. Everyone needs to feel secure, welcome, and valued. It is only when the spouse feels valued, welcome and secure, that they are ready to invest their time, energy, and love into the home, too.
Decisions affecting the home are made by both the man and the woman because everything that affects the home needs to be brought up for discussion so that both are in agreement. Decisions need to be made carefully taking into consideration finances, health issues, relationship issues, and dreams/goals of everyone living in the home.
Building up a home requires the active presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, living in the hearts and lives of each member of the home. One person cannot over-balance someone who has a passive relationship with Jesus or a non-existent relationship with Him. There needs to be worship time and prayer time both as a couple and as a family for the home to have Christ as its foundation.
