Spirit Lead Me

“And Esther said, “The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman!” So Haman was terrified before the king and queen.” Esther 7:6 (NKJV)

At the second banquet, the king again asked Esther what she really wanted. She finally told Ahasuerus that her request was for her life and the lives of her people. The king’s response was astonishment that anyone would dare plot to kill his queen.

Esther told the king that it was Haman, wicked Haman. The king went out of the room into the palace garden. Meanwhile, Haman fell across the couch where Esther lay, pleading for his life. When the king returned and saw Haman he was outraged.

One of the eunuchs told the king about the gallows that Haman had built to execute Mordecai. The king said “Hang him on it!”

What can we learn from Esther during this scene? It could not have been easy for her to speak up for herself and her people. After all, no one in the palace knew she was a Jew. By speaking up, if the king had wanted, he could have had her placed under arrest until the day appointed for executing the Jews.

What gave her the courage and boldness to speak? She had fasted and prayed for three days and nights. During that time she had confessed any wrongs that she could remember and determined to do God’s will.

I don’t know what you are facing today. I don’t know what I will be facing today. But, the creator of all knows exactly what will happen in our lives. When we spend time reading God’s Word and praying for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us, we will be equipped for whatever lies ahead.
