“Your word is very pure;
Therefore Your servant loves it.” Psalm 119:140 (NKJV)
How can I determine if something is pure? I’d need to thoroughly test the item, right? So, how do I determine if God’s Word is very pure? God says for us to test Him (Malachi 3:10).
When God said to test Him, was He only talking about in finances? Romans 12:2 ” And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
It sounds to me that Paul is recommending not to become like the world – those who don’t know God (and could care less about God), but to have our minds changed, renewed … so that we may prove (or confirm) what is the will of God … which is always good, acceptable and perfect.
Okay, so going back to the original verse for today – how can I determine that God’s Word is pure? Well, first I need to read it. I can’t determine anything about God’s Word if I don’t first inspect it thoroughly! The Bible verse that supports this is 2 Corinthians 3:18. ” But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
