My God Is Near

“The Shulamite
By night on my bed I sought the one I love;
I sought him, but I did not find him.” Song of Solomon 3:1 (NKJV)

The country maiden expected her beloved to be with her at night. However, she couldn’t find him although she searched for him. She asked the watchmen she passed if they had seen him, but they hadn’t.

She had barely passed the watchmen, when she found her beloved. She held onto him and would not let him go.

There may be times when I do not sense God’s presence in my life. However, just like the country maiden looking for Solomon, if I search diligently, even though others may tell me that my search is in vain, I will find God and then I need to hold onto him and never let him go.

Keep in mind, God never leaves me. It is only my perception that his presence is lost. If I choose to spend time in God’s Word each day, spend time in prayer communing with my Savior, then even when I don’t need to worry about my perception (which can be faulty), I can trust God’s Word that he will never leave me nor forsake me.
