” Go to the ant, you sluggard!
Consider her ways and be wise,” Proverbs 6:6 (NKJV)
I don’t think I’ve ever fully considered why Solomon advised those who were lazy, slow-moving, sleepy (a sluggard) to observe the ant and to consider the ant’s ways to become wise.
Mind you, Solomon wasn’t just referring to any ant in this passage. He was referring to the worker ants (which are female as indicated by the pronouns as well as biology textbooks).
In looking up information about worker ants, I learned some things to share. Worker ants don’t have any wings. Male ants, usually referred to as drones, usually have wings. If I’m considering the worker ant’s behaviors and realize that they do not have wings to fly about, that could influence me to realize I need to be grounded rather than flighty. I need to be grounded in the Word of God to handle all of my day’s activities.
Worker ants while they are female cannot reproduce as they are sterile. Only the queen ant can reproduce. While I can share my personal experiences with the Word of God, it is only the Holy Spirit that can bring life to those thoughts when read by someone else. I do not have the power to reproduce God’s characteristics in anyone else. Only God can accomplish that.
