Jesus Goes With Me

“He also had seven sons and three daughters.” Job 42:13 (NKJV)

Notice that the scripture tells us that after all of Job’s trials, losses, and pain God granted him 7 sons and 3 daughters. Ok, but it was Job’s wife who gave birth to those 10 children! The children to replace the children they had both lost during Satan’s time of testing Job (and his wife).

It is also interesting to note that while the material possessions of sheep, camels, oxen, and donkeys were significantly more than he had previously lost, the children were only replaced one for one.

The book of Job tells us that Job saw his children and grandchildren for four generations before he died. It does not tell us that his wife enjoyed the same blessing. Maybe she lived and enjoyed the time with the children and grandchildren the same as Job. But, maybe, because of her attempt to have Job curse God and die – lack of faith and trust in God, that maybe she died before seeing the fourth generation.

What can I learn from the final chapter of Job? God gives us what he knows we can handle and enjoy when we trust him in all things. Trusting God will not always take me out of the path of pain and suffering, but God has promised that he will go through those times with us. Some benefits we may not see on this earth, but only in the new earth and heaven. God knows how much we can handle without damaging our relationship with him – the most important aspect of our existence on this earth.
