God’s Love Holding You

“Tell me, O you whom I love,
Where you feed your flock,
Where you make it rest at noon.
For why should I be as one who veils herself
By the flocks of your companions?” Song of Solomon 1:7 (NKJV)

This is our country maiden talking with her beloved – Solomon. She has recognized that she is a common laborer in the vineyards. There is a great gulf between her social status and that of Solomon’s. Yet, she longs to be loved and accepted for herself. She wants a real connection and a chance to develop the relationship into intimacy.

Looking at this passage in view of our relationship with Christ and we are the bride – the country maiden, I recognize that there is a very wide gulf between Christ and who I am. Christ is perfect and holy. I am a sinner, but forgiven by God. I long to experience God’s love despite my imperfections and failures. I want a real connection with Christ that is deep enough to help me through the rough days and nights. What about you?

When you’re longing for that deep intimate relationship with the Saviour – look to Christ. Listen to the Celebrant Singers as they sing “His Love Is Holding You.”
