“The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.” Ruth 2:12 (NKJV)
Boaz explained to Ruth that he had heard of all that she had done and was doing for Naomi. Boaz invited her to eat lunch with him and the workers. She ate and was full and had extra to take to Naomi.
Then Boaz talked with those harvesting the grain for him and told them to leave extra for Ruth and not to fuss with her about getting the grain. When Ruth got home and presented Naomi with her leftovers from lunch as well as the grain she had gleaned, Naomi was very impressed. She asked which field she had gleaned in that day. Ruth told her the man’s name was Boaz.
Naomi told Ruth to stay with Boaz’ workers. She gleaned with them through the barley harvest and the wheat harvest. What can I learn from this part of the story? God does reward those who are faithful. Sometimes we may not get rewarded in this life, but we can trust God to be faithful in the eternal account books.
Listen now to We the Kingdom as they sing “The Blessing.”
