God Judges

“And the king said to Queen Esther, “The Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the citadel, and the ten sons of Haman. What have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? Now what is your petition? It shall be granted to you. Or what is your further request? It shall be done.” ” Esther 9:12 (NKJV)

The day appointed for the Jews to be killed by the first decree came. With the king’s new decree the Jews had the opportunity to defend their property and themselves. In addition, all those doing the king’s work helped the Jews because of their respect for Mordecai.

At the end of the day Ahasuerus asked Esther what else she wanted and he would grant her request. Isn’t it wonderful when God touches the heart of someone to help God’s people? Esther asked for one more day for the Jews to protect their property and to have Haman’s ten sons be hanged on the gallows. And the king granted her request.

The war against the Jews ended. More than 75,000 of the enemies of the Jews died in the two days granted by the king for them to defend themselves. All because Esther chose to fast and pray for God’s direction as she stood with God’s people against Haman and others who actively wanted the Jews dead.

If God could do it in Esther’s time, He can do it today for us. There are many enemies of God’s people throughout the world. We may not see the same results in the same way today as Esther saw, but we know that our God will be the righteous judge in the day of His judgment. He does not forsake His people.
