Find Me Faithful

“In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash became king, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba. Jehoash did what was right in the sight of the LORD all the days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him. ” 2 Kings 12:1-2 (NKJV)

Occasionally in the Bible we are told the mother’s name of important people. This is one of those times. Jehoash (a/k/a Joash) is a king who set about to repair the temple of the Lord. The foundation for placing importance on the house of the Lord started at home with his mother – Zibiah, which was then later followed up with Jehoiada, the priest’s instruction.

As a mother (or father or other spiritual leader) your influence upon the decisions your children make in the future can never be measured fully. The full impact of your influence will not be known until we meet our Saviour in heaven. What is interesting in these verses is that Jehoash (a/k/a Joash) did what was right in God’s sight while Jehoiada was priest. Does our influence sometimes end with our death or does it go on in the memories of our children? It depends upon our relationship with our children and why they make the choices they do.

It is my prayer that when God evaluates my life and the influence that I have provided while on this earth, that He will find that I have been faithful to Him. Listen to Jonathan and Melissa Helser as they sing “Find Me.”
