Eve Deceived

“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3 (NKJV)

Paul sent a letter to the church at Corinth because he was concerned that they would not remain faithful. He uses the example of Eve to warn them to be alert, watchful so that the serpent (Satan) would not be successful in deceiving them as he had been successful in deceiving Eve.
After many generations had come and gone, those who choose to follow Christ still look back on earth’s history to learn from others’ examples of what to do and what not to do. Eve’s story is a warning to each of us to keep our eyes focused on God/Christ and to not doubt God’s Word.

In Paul’s first letter to Timothy (1 Timothy 2:11-15) he tells him to not allow a woman to teach or have authority over a man. Adam was not deceived but chose to accept the penalty with Eve. Whereas Eve was deceived.

Over the past couple of days we’ve looked at each Bible verse and story mentioning Eve. There weren’t many. Actually only 5 Bible verses mention Eve – the Mother of all Living.

What can I learn from Eve’s story? 1. I need to stay connected with God through the scripture/Holy Bible. God is my only source of strength against the enemy. 2. I may have to shed some tears for how my choices cause pain down through future generations. There’s “no get out of jail free tickets.” 3. Even my bad choices can be examples of what not to do and may help someone else see God’s grace toward me as a light to their own path while seeing God’s will in their lives.

My prayer today is that God will use me, past sins forgiven to help someone else to desire to be in God’s presence. Listen to a song from the album “Christians Pray,” “Use Me Lord, Use Me.”
