Choose to Trust God

” “If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, then let the king and Haman come to the banquet which I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said.” ” Esther 5:8 (NKJV)

So, the king and Haman came to Esther’s banquet. The king asked Esther what she wanted and reassured her that up to half of his kingdom he would grant her. Yet, Esther delayed telling the king her true request.

When I’m faced with something potentially hard or impossible to handle, do I stall around and put off addressing the issue? It seems that is what Esther was doing from a human perspective. But what if God was needing that one night to finish setting the stage?

On Haman’s way home, he saw Mordecai and became very angry. However he kept it to himself and when he got home he called his friends and wife to come. After they arrived he spent some time bragging about what he’d accomplished and who he was. After all, that day only he and the king had been invited to the queen’s special banquet. And he’d been invited to come again on the next day.

Up to that point he hadn’t really done or said anything wrong. But then he said that none of that meant anything because seeing Mordecai and knowing that he would not honor him by following the king’s order that everyone should bow to Haman, ruined everything for him. His wife and friends told him to build a gallows and then suggest in the morning to the king that Mordecai needed to be hanged on the gallows he had built.

You may have heard the saying that if you give someone enough rope, they will hang themselves. It seems that was what God was allowing Haman to do for himself. The stage was being set and Esther was about to make all things clear to the king.

I don’t know what your situation is today, but I do know that sometimes God asks us to just trust Him a little longer and then he will take care of the bullies in our lives.
