Shine, Jesus Shine
Shine, Jesus Shine

Shine, Jesus Shine

“And the letters were sent by couriers into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions.” Esther 3:13 (NKJV)

Remember that Mordecai had told Esther not to disclose her Jewish heritage or her relationship to him. Now, Haman, out of his jealousy of Mordecai and hatred of anyone who would not show him homage, convinced the king to allow Haman to make a decree that all Jews would be killed on a future date.

The king didn’t discuss this matter with his queen. I suppose that just like in many situations today, queens were to be beautiful, decorative, and not involved in daily matters of the government. However, even though Ahasuerus didn’t know that the decree would affect his queen, there was no provision in the decree to exempt the queen who was of Jewish heritage.

Are there situations in my life when others are not aware that I am a Christian? Do I try to blend in so well that I hide my connection with Christ? It is my desire that Jesus shines through me so clearly that it is never in doubt that I belong to Him.
