Live Righteously and Godly

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” Titus 2:11-14 (NKJV)

I can only speak for myself and not others, but while living righteously and godly is definitely my daily goal, I fall short each and every day. Every morning when I wake up I thank the Lord for my night’s rest and for allowing me to start a new day. The slate is clean but as soon as I put my feet on the floor (or at least it seems that way to me) my human nature puts thoughts in my mind that are definitely not righteous or godly. What do I need to do today? How can I get everything accomplished? I start off by beating myself up rather than turning the day’s tasks over to God and allowing Him to organize my day, schedule appointments with those I can cheer up and bless, and give me the strength and wisdom to follow His plan for the day.

So, today, how can I change this pattern? Lord, today I ask that you take away all anxiety, all thoughts of how today’s activities may impact my life, and instead help me to focus on what is your plan for me today? How can I serve YOU today? How can I show YOUR love to others today? I want others to see YOU and not me in all of my actions and words today.
